Ultralight Permit
Requirements
- At least 16 years of age
- Hold a Category 4 Medical Certificate valid for a Pilot Permit – Ultra-light Aeroplane
- Must complete 20 hours of ultralight aeroplane pilot ground school
- Must complete PSTAR course and written PSTAR test to obtain student pilot permit
- Obtain a minimum of 10 hours of flight time, with 5 hours dual minimum and 2 hours solo minimum
- Achieve minimum 60% on Transport Canada’s written examination Pilot Permit Ultra-light Aeroplane (ULTRA)

Passenger Carrying Rating - Ultralight
Requirements
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Hold a Category 4 Medical Certificate valid for a Pilot Permit – Ultra-light Aeroplane
- Obtain a minimum of 25 hours of total flight time, with 15 hours dual minimum, 2 hours cross-country and 5 hours solo minimum
- Successfully complete a flight test

Certified Flight Instructor - Ultralight
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Hold a Category 3 Medical Certificate valid for a Pilot Permit – Ultra-light Aeroplane
- Completed a minimum of 10 hours in instructional techniques
- Achieve 80% in the written examination Flight Instructor Rating Instructional Techniques (FITEN)
- Complete ground school training, including normal and emergency procedures, on ultra-light aeroplanes
- Obtain a minimum of 50 hours of flight time, with 5 hours dual minimum, 5 hours dual flight time on instructional techniques, 25 hours solo flight time minimum
- Successfully complete a flight test
